Greetings!

You deserve a short break. Take a deep breath, relax those shoulders, and enjoy this "Moment for You."

First Bike Ride
It was a familiar noise, the distinctive cleng cleng of a child's bicycle. A very patient daddy rode slowly alongside his pink-helmeted little one on her matching bike. "That's good. Slow and steady. Good. Keep the handlebars straight ahead. Looking good, sweetie."

A wave of nostalgia washed over me. Untold decades ago I was on that bike. I still remember the taste of freedom as my dad took off the training wheels and let me ride solo down the small hill. In that moment, wind in my hair, I knew what it meant to fly.

I wonder now if my willingness to learn new things, and my desire to shepherd others in the direction of their dreams was born in those moments. And I wonder if people who are easily discouraged - who quit when things get tough - didn't have that gift of mentoring when they were young.

There's a lot in the papers about 'the new generation' not being as wonderful as we think they should be. Perhaps if all of us found one kid, one teen, one millennial, and mentored them, the world would be a better place.

If you've got kids in your life, take time now and again to be that dad on the bike. If you're a boss, take time to mentor your employees- or find them someone who will. If you're a seasoned employee, help the new kid figure out the ropes.

We are all here to help each other through. And the good news is it really does come back and reward us in wonderfully unexpected ways.

People remember your impact on them far longer than you remember what you said or did.
Enjoy your weekend,
Beth

"It is essential for us to have something significant to do. To have a positive vision of our future, because that is what gives meaning to life... It is a peculiarity of man that he can only live by looking to the future. This is his salvation even in the most difficult times of his existence."

Don't forget Beth's book, 101 Ways to Make Your Life Easier is a wonderful graduation / wedding / mother's day gift! It's packed with great advice on living a healthier and happier life. Sure wish I'd known most of this stuff when I was just starting out!

The new book is on it's way. Beth met with the publisher this week in Hawaii. More announcements soon!

Meanwhile, if you would like to include Beth in your training plans this year, email us and we'll set up a conversation to make that happen!
Seems we all could use a good laugh. This article by Therapist Jackie Kwan is a few years old, but still pretty current. Let your kids remind you how to laugh...

Aloha Beth:
Just want to say mahalo nui loa for such a great workshop on Monday of this week. You are a great speaker, and I learned a lot from your presentation. Lot of words of wisdom.

Yes - please train the puppies. Everyone is a puppy at something. Little kids are puppies when they are learning how to be a human. People who work for you are puppies when they don't know the way you do stuff. You're even a puppy the first time you use a new computer program. At least Beth is! LOL

I think you two-leggeds forget what it was like when You were a puppy! If you can just think about that when you help someone learn something new, I'll bet your life would get way easier.

Well - my birthday is going to happen before I talk with you again. Can't believe I'll have 9 candles on my beefcake (hint hint) on June 6! I still remember when I was a puppy. I'm a lot smarter now. Lezard will be 10 this week. He still has a lot to learn. :-}

We love you!
Hugs,
Xena

Remember to take a little 'me' time once in awhile.

A hui hou, (till we meet again)
