Greetings!

You deserve a short break. Take a deep breath, relax those shoulders, and enjoy this "Moment for You."

Rose with thorns
Got the post-holiday doldrums? They often hit about a month after the Holidays. The excitement is over. Decorations are put away. The skies are gray. Guests have gone, and all you have to show for the festivities is a carpet that badly needs cleaning.

Or is that just my carpet?

Look, there's always something to celebrate. Always something to embrace and enjoy. It takes just a slight shift in perspective. It takes remembering what you have and celebrating that.

How do you turn off the gray and find something to celebrate? How about looking at those gifts you got last month? Hang the picture your cousin gave you, use the gift card on yourself, get that massage. Write a short thank you note - that'll shift your brain to positive. Take time out to read your favorite book or magazine. Laundry will wait.

I got hit with a little of the flu bug going around. I spent a good part of the first day in bed. Then I wrapped myself up as warmly as possible, fixed a cup of hot chocolate, and sat out on my lanai and watched hummingbirds for an hour. It was a delightful reminder of the miracles around me.

In a short time, despite the discomfort of the flu, I felt blessed to be where I am.

Celebrate the little things. Create little moments of magic wherever you can. And don't spend too much time in the doldrums. We all go there from time to time, but life's just too short to take up residence there.

Wishing you all the best in the new year.
Beth

We had some excitement at our house.
First we heard the noises at night. A huge, long hollow sound, and then another one, "Whooooooooo. Whoooooooo." My ears went straight up. I think I heard it before anyone else.

So Beth started following me around outside at night. She didn't say why, she just was suddenly always there, right over me. Made me crazy. She didn't follow Lezard. She says he's safe - cuz he's pretty hefty for a Chihuahua.

Then right in the middle of the day, whooooosh! This huge bird comes swooping out of nowhere and picks up a big gray pigeon right in our back yard! That pigeon was bigger than me! !

I started barking really loud, but it didn't hear me through the glass. I could've saved that pigeon! But Beth doesn't think so. Now she follows me around in daytime too! (I'm kinda glad she does. His beak was pretty sharp-lookin'!)

If you want to see a picture of the bird in our yard, and read Beth's story about it check this out.

Hugs!
I promise I'll stick close to Beth!
