A Moment For You

Dear Beth,

This Moment for you should take only 5 minutes to read. Think of it as a 'non-smoking' break from your hectic schedule!

I wish you a delightful, wonder-filled, relaxing, stress-free, and Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and whatever else you may be celebrating at this time.

In the midst of all the consumerism craziness, take a moment for you. Sneak away for a massage. Order out and eat dinner in your jammies together around the tree. Have a 'free-for-all dinner' with the kids and tell them they can eat whatever is in the kitchen providing they cook it and clean up after themselves.

It's easy to forget this is the season to celebrate LOVE, no matter what your religious persuasion.
STOP. Breathe. Remember. Relax. It's all good.

Just remember that it is the thought that counts. Do you really remember each and every gift you got last year? No. But you do remember the people who remembered you.
Don't wear yourself or your pocketbook out.

Enjoy the links below. Take time for you. And have a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

"When we truly care for ourselves, it becomes possible to care far more profoundly about other people. The more alert and sensitive we are to our own needs, the more loving and generous we can be toward others."
-- Eda LeShan

"Auntie Beth, how many Christmases did you have so far?"
I figured five-year old Alisha was just trying
to guess my age. So I told her.
Then her sweet voice stopped me in my tracks:
"Well, how many more do you get?"

~~~~~ Enjoy your holiday. You don't know how many you have left...
Here's my recipe for relieving the stress of the holidays: Think like a dog!
It's gloomy outside? Take a nap!
Someone upset at you? Wag your tail and give them your cutest face (if you upset them, try it - they just might forgive you!) You could try licking their face, but that may just get you into trouble.
Exhausted from spending too much money? Cuddle up to someone you love. That's worth more than a present anyway. You can both take a nap.
Feeling all waca waca about the traffic, rude salespeople, grumpy crankypants? Sigh, lay on the couch, and take a nap.
AND - when you aren't feeling good, check to make sure you are drinking enough water and eating right. It sure helps me feel better.
Anyway, thanks for reading this! Happy Holidays!! When you wake up from your nap, send me a note at xena@bethterry.com, and I will make sure and answer it.
Hugs to you all. Thanks for reading my column and for being Beth’s friend.
Hello Beth & Xena!
Thank you again for another –timely- newsletter - I had your email in my in-box & finally decided to read it and take ‘a moment for me’! What a treat – I am so glad to have signed up for your newsletter and for your reminders of what's really important in life. I’m going to pass this on to my 12 year old son too.
I need to remember to do the 10 things I am grateful for – OK – I am going to do it NOW!
Mahalo again & keep up the great work inspiring & encouraging us!
This issue is dedicated to Dick Tribble, a good friend who passed away on December 9. His sweet spirit and generous heart lives on in all of us at the National Speakers Association. And his passing reminded me that it really isn't about the presents... it's about the presence. Enjoy your holidays and savor the times you have with loved ones, no matter how frustrating they may be...
Thanks for taking this moment for you. You deserve a little "me" time once in awhile, especially during the holidays, and we are honored that you would spend some of it with us.
Take care of yourself, and have a Happy Holiday Season!
Beth and the gang
