Seven Steps to Getting Out of Overwhelm
NEW: Listen to this portion of the newsletter:
This week: Step Seven
Embrace it!
We've spent the last two months talking about what you can do to get out of overwhelm. Perhaps the last and best thing I can recommend is that you embrace the overwhelm. What a blessing it is to have so much - so much to do, so much to think about, so much responsibility.
In the midst of your frustration at not getting it all done, STOP. Look at all of it and say, "Thanks for giving me so much to do!" Research has often showed that people who retire with nothing to do only live a few years past retirement. Stress keeps us interested and interesting.
A remarkable thing happened when I took my own advice and just said thanks for all the work: it stopped being so daunting. A simple change of mind, a simple shift in perspective and suddenly it was exciting that I had so many leads I needed to call, so many names to add to the newsletter list, so many programs I was writing and so many places to go. What a wonder it is to have that many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others!
And - a funny thing happens along the way when you shift from frustration to gratitude. Somehow the work gets done quicker. Somehow the brain re-engages. Somehow the joy comes back into the work.
Embrace the overwhelm. Change your mind about all that work. And have some fun today.
Take care of yourself, we need you!

"Where to begin? First, My mother (Nora) sent me your book "Walking in a Crowd of Angels " and within an hour it was stickied, dog eared and hilighted like an ancient favourite. It was wonderful to read so much common sense and be reminded of the application of things learned in, and misplaced since my youth. She had also bought a copy for my niece, which I passed on for her. Shortly after this, I accompanied my mother on her return trip to the Islands from celebrating her 80th birthday with her family, here in Canada. Within hours of our arrival in Honolulu, I watched as she ordered yet another series of the same book plus copies of "101 Ways [to Make Your Life Easier] ". It was only a matter of a day or so later that you rang her personally to ask if you had her order correct! Both of us were moved and impressed by your personal interest. I wanted to send a personal thank you for making her smile."

Beth's Announcements

Announcements:
-
Have you heard of America's #1 Auto Brokers? They will be our next guests at the Teleseminar September 2. America's #1 Auto Brokers operate as buyers agents whose goal is to save customers thousands of dollars on the purchase or lease of new and pre-owned vehicles. They also find financing, negotiate the contracts and watch the process from beginning to end so you don't get a contract you didn't bargain for. Annie Heerup's company also takes care of all those extras you want to add on to your car deal and they make sure you pay what it is worth, not what will make the dealer more padded profit.
I invited America's #1 Auto Brokers to this tele-seminar because of their integrity. I like the way they are dedicated to educating their customers and how they fully disclose every cost along the way. Join us on the call and order the download. It will be the best hour you have spent all month!
- Welcome to all the folks from Beth's recent seminars who have signed up for the newsletter! From Arizona: the Association of Bridal Consultants, the sales team from Creative Communications; from Hawaii: The USDA Women's Group; the Consulting Engineers Council of Hawaii; from Salt Lake City: the team from Tesoro Petroleum; and all those who signed up from our "Make It Easier" Teleseminar Series .
- Beth will be in Hawaii November 3-8 and February 14-18. Both will include presentations to the Hawaii Joint Training Board, so if you are in the military, DOD or Federal Government, you may be able to attend. Watch for the HJTB announcements or contact Beth for more info. If you would like to book Beth within those dates, she still has a few openings.

Something you can do right now to get out of overwhelm…
(Each issue I am going to give you links to things that I think might help. Not all of these will be for everyone, but the web is becoming such an exciting place that exploring it is an absolute delight!)
Ok - first, the links from the last newsletter were all kapakahi (that's Hawaiian for 'screwed up') The links actually worked, but you had to cut and paste them instead of just clicking on them. If you're still interested, they are fixed on the web site version of the newsletter.
Also - don't forget to check out the wonderful advice and information from Stephanie Frank. She was our Teleseminar guest last time and has helped thousands of people achieve their financial goals. Visit Stephanie Frank! You can also download a copy of that teleseminar if you missed it here.

This inexpensive program (only $99 from this link) will save you time, money, pain, and energy. Learn to speed read in the comfort of your own home or office: Readers Edge Check it out!

The "word" from Xena
|
Play. That is the word from me today. Play. You humans don't do enough of it. Or, if you are like Beth, you only play when it is on your list of things to do for the day. You two-leggeds aren't spontaneous enough. And you think it all has to make sense. When is the last time you skipped around like the young two-legged creatures do. I watch them coming home from school in the afternoon and they are giggling, laughing, skipping rocks, and being goofy. When was the last time you did something that just made you laugh out loud, no matter who was watching?
I have my stuffed duck. You can see it right here. I carry it around with me all the time so I can play whenever I want to. Then, when I am tired, it doubles as a pillow. My duck is my friend. Want to get out of overwhelm? Play more. Find a few friends you can be goofy with. And don't care so much about what other people think. If they look at you funny when you are playing, it is just 'cause they forgot what it is to play. That shouldn't stop you!
Click here to email me (Xena)! (You don't think humans are the only ones to get fan mail do you?
